How I Cook for Thanksgiving



Hi Reader,

When people find out I cook professionally, they always assume I’m planning some elaborate Thanksgiving feast. The truth is that I keep things very simple.

It’s easy to get stressed about this holiday — I’m not surprised. Cooking a big centerpiece (the turkey!) surrounded by multiple side dishes that all need to be ready at the same time is no small feat.

So I keep it easy: A roasted turkey with simple pan gravy, a baked casserole (usually sweet potato), a creamy potato gratin, roasted or sautéed green beans, maybe some Brussels sprouts, and the classic cranberry sauce recipe straight from the back of the Ocean Spray bag.

Over the years, I’ve collected a few recipes that I return to every November — dishes that feel festive without sending whoever is cooking into a tailspin.

Whether you’re hosting the whole crew or keeping things small, these are my go-to recipes for a relaxed, delicious Thanksgiving.
